The beams are sturdy enough for me, anyway. Once I'm up there the platform seems really high. The whole reason we're building an elevated platform is to keep the bears out- the Yurt doesn't make me confident some hungry bear won't tear through the wall. So elevation plus an eventual electric fence plus spike strips should do the trick.
