arrival at Railay/Tonsai

There was only one word for it- tourists. Not blending in contains most of the enjoyment I get from travelling, and we hardly fit in even with the tourists. It was hard to convince Emily to wear a tank top, as she is from Fairbanks and doesn't feel right unless she has twenty pounds of clothes on.

I can take a mosquito bite like any self-respecting Alaskan, and I still refuse to wear mosquito repellant, but Thai mosquitos were especially bad for me and me only. I looked, most of the time, like I'd been stung by a hive of bees. On the bad days I could walk around the beach and hear people both Thai and other alike gasp and murmur as I passed them by. I felt like a tourist among tourists.
