We get power (and internet)!

In late September/early October we finally got electricity set up. Here's a panorama of the inside of the yurt courtesy of Sherrie.
Strapping the batteries to the frame pack- we each carried one- they weigh about 65lbs. It took two trips each to bring up the 2 batteries and the 2 solar panels plus all the other smaller bis of equipment.
Crossing the river with dogs and gear.
On the way up the hill with a full load.
We set a scale up so we could weigh our loads, here's Bill's battery pack. Mine ended up weighing in at over 90lbs, I overpacked because I was afraid it would tip over inside my pack.
Placing the cell-phone and internet antenna. We get enough service to do emailing, and a little bit of web surfing but it is pretty slow. We'll go for a higher placement later on.
Solar powered yurt, it's great to have electric lights. Photo by Sherrie.
